The seven principles of the HR Ghost Lounge Code are shared conditions for membership.

Anonymity is protected

Trust is central to our anonymous model. Paul Drury is the sole moderator and the only person who knows member identities. He has worked as an HR ghostwriter since 2012 and is accustomed to handling sensitive material with discretion.

Members are also expected to protect one another’s anonymity. Do not speculate about identities or share Ghost Lounge content. There should be no mention of real-life individuals, organisations, or specific workplace situations.

Rooms have clear boundaries

The Ghost Lounge is intentionally limited. While boundaries may seem unfamiliar at first, they protect focus and maintain the quality of the experience.

Limit of one thoughtful post per day. No member-to-member direct messaging or personal contact. The Ghost Lounge operates as a contained, private room rather than an open social platform.

The prompt sets the content

Each room is guided by a daily prompt, shared by Paul Drury. The prompt provides a common reference and ensures a focus to member contributions.

Members are asked to respond directly to the prompt rather than introducing new topics. This allows members to express nuanced thoughts.

Reflection without interaction

The Ghost Lounge is designed for silent reflection rather than discussion or debate. Contributions are shared as considered viewpoints, not invitations for response.

Members do not reply to one another or engage in conversation. Each contribution stands on its own, existing in solitude without performance or judgement.

Ideas are shared without agenda

The Ghost Lounge exists for perspective rather than positioning. Contributions should be shared with integrity, without intent to promote a commercial or personal cause.

The Lounge is not a place for selling or establishing personal brands. External content and resources are shared by Paul Drury only, to maintain neutrality and focus.

The room is actively moderated

The Ghost Lounge is actively moderated by Paul Drury to protect the integrity and tone of the room. His careful stewardship safeguards the space.

Repeated breaches will result in removal from the room. These decisions are made to protect the collective experience. Moderation decisions are final.

Listen curiously – Contribute thoughtfully

The Ghost Lounge is a quietly reflective place. Members are encouraged to listen when they have nothing to add and to contribute (at least twice weekly) when they do.

This discernment over time sustains the quality of the room. Member contributions should enhance the nuance, not contribute to the noise.
